Top Ten Reasons to Autocross in PackwoodThe first ever WWSCC championship event to be held in Packwood is coming up on April 24-25 for the TorqueSteerers Understeer/Oversteer weekend. Here are the top ten reasons to come out for an autocross in Packwood. 10. The mountain views. 9. Perhaps the largest and best asphalt surface in the whole country. 8. Covered pits. 7. Scenic drive to and from the site. 6. Looooooong Nationals-style courses. 5. Elk poop on course. 4. Great coffee at Butter Butte. 3. Snowmobiling just a few hundred feet up. 2. Karaoke on Saturday night. 1. Did I mention the HUGE site? Watch Karl drive his old MR2 to get an idea of the site size.
Registration is open at http://scorekeeper.wwscc.org/register/ww2010/login. Directions to Packwood.
Mary Lee, TorqueSteerers member since 2007 53 Streakers out on course...On Sunday, April 4, there were 53 Streakers out in Shelton, but most had multiple layers on to combat wind, cold, and the occasional rain. Nevertheless, most stuck it through 6 runs each or stopped when it became too wet for slicks. Now, the results are posted at http://scorekeeper.wwscc.org/results/nwde10/1/post. 12 drivers had a Datsun, Nissan, or Infiniti, but many agree that the GTR is the best Datsun ever. :) Many thanks to the drivers who came out to the Northwest Datsun Enthusiasts' first autocross since 2006. Many club members agreed that it was great to see old racing friends (going back to the 70s!) and make new ones. Mary Lee and Randy Ayers. New Website! This new website has been in testing for a couple of months, and there may be a few things that aren't correctly linked (please tell me if you find any!), but it's time to move the website to the 2010's! The new website is now using a content management system, which means that people don't necessarily have to wait on me to create or edit pages, we now can have anyone author new content that can be reviewed and published. In fact, most of the pages on the site are now editable — if you have the correct permissions. Also, authors can pre-create articles to be published after a certain date and time, and articles can be set to automatically expire. There's a lot that we can do now, and we'll be extending much of this functionality in the not-to-distant future (such as a direct link for club reps to add their events to the WWSCC calendar, and a link for event chairs to post event information much faster than I've been able to do it). I hope you enjoy the new site, and please let us know at webmaster@wwscc.org how we can improve the site!
