Western Washington Sports Car Council - August

WWSCC August Meeting Minutes 08/19/02 Overlake Round Table Pizza

Called to order: 7:45pm

Guests: Jeff Winchell, Mike Leuty, Trever McDermott, Julia Neumann, Deiter Beldi, Keith Brown, Karina Miller

In attendance: SCCA-Ron B., UWFSAE-Brian C., TS-Scott M., BEAC-Glen H., MCPS-Denise W., ACE-Brianne. No reps from NWDE or CSCC. Officers: Prez Brianne, VP Susan, Secretary Kelley, Insurance Focal Karen, Webmaster Alan.

Treasurer’s report: submitted via email from Jake to Council-list. Accepted.

Review of previous minutes: some discussion on CSCC event/accident reported in last minutes regarding actual clearance limits as presented by CSCC report at meeting vs. witness accounts. Clarified to meeting attendees that minutes reflected the “official” report from CSCC representatives and not witness interjections. Since witness vs. official information was still an issue, Karen Babb said she would email with CSCC directly regarding review of courses in future for insurance purposes. Previous minutes accepted.

Old Business: Understeer/Oversteer: Event was officially reviewed at Torque Steerers August meeting. Motion was made & passed to accept for Championship Status.

Sports Car Spectacular: Official review of WWSCC event, report from Event Chair Kelley: 155 competitors. Street Tire half of day was huge and there was discussion about changing run groups/halves of days around for next year. Although Tim Nevins wasn’t at this meeting, he seems to be the go-to guy for this issue and will probably review average totals, etc. at end of season. It was a great course – thanks Karen! The three levels of payment seemed to work really well, lots of folks were pre-reg and pre-paid which makes the day go much quicker. Thanks also to BEAC for their waiving of the site fees and equipment fees, which allowed WWSCC to put some more money in the bank!

BEAC Enduro: coming up on the 25th. Mike Leuty is Event Chair and is in need of three rules stewards since there will be three parts to the day instead of the usual two.  First group: Scott M., Second group: Brianne G., Third group: Kelley P.

Susan said she is going to be making new red flags out of rip-stop nylon that should be ready for Enduro. We can still keep the orange plastic ones as back-ups/extras.

New Business: UWFSAE Championship event in October. Brian C. submitted the event plan and course map. Small discussion regarding the course.

ACE Dogfight: October 27th, probably at Everett West. If so, Kelley will check with SaniCan providers to keep the Cans there thru end of October (with padlocks for September).

Season-end Trophy Committee: Volunteers were solicited for forming a committee. Brianne and Karina volunteered. Ideas for trophies? Engravable items, key chain LED lights. Additional idea input is welcomed!

Treasurer Issue: Brianne and Jake had a little phone-tag going on. He has tendered a resignation via email. Susan motioned to accept his resignation, seconded by Brian C., passed. Karina Miller was voted in to become new Treasurer. No other clubs had members interested in running for position. Welcome Karina! Brianne will coordinate with Jake and Karina to handle transfer of banking records, etc.

September Meeting: Motion made and passed to move next month’s meeting to Wednesday, September 18th due to several representatives still traveling back from SCCA Solo2 Nationals in Topeka. Good luck to those attending Nationals!

Cone Rental: Jeff Winchell asked if it was possible to rent the WWSCC cones for an event on 8/31/02. Since BEAC stores them for WWSCC, they have first right of refusal on them, and they are already holding a BEAC practice on that same date.

Webmaster Duties: Alan Dahl has a request for volunteers in taking over the WWSCC webmaster duties. The HTML hasn’t been the issue for him so much as writing content and articles. Brian says he has someone who might be interested who will contact Alan via email. At future events it would be nice if the Event Chair could try to write up at least 2 paragraphs for the website front page.

Good of the Order: This will be the last meeting that Brianne chairs for awhile as she & Sean are counting down to baby day! VP Susan will chair next 2-4 meetings. Again, best wishes and good luck to all attending Nationals in Topeka!

Meeting adjourned: 9:03PM
