WWSCC Minutes – September 21, 2004 Rogue Brewery, Issaquah
Call to Order – 7:40 p.m.
Attendance – Richard Johnson (Guest), Susan Collicott (ACE), Ron Bauer (SCCA), John Henderschedt, Denny Trimble (UWFSAE), Keith Brown (TS), Ed Dahl (CSCC), Dieter Beldi (PSMC), Jerry Lamb (SCCA)
Minutes – August minutes approved unanimously without revision. Treasurer’s Report – The treasurer was not in attendance. No report was provided. Old Business –
Tech Report – There was no info regarding new webmaster. Everyone agreed that the website looks really good. Alan has done a great job. While there were several suggestions for improving the new WWSCC Forum, folks are very enthusiastic about its development. However, the website will still be the official source of information regarding events.
Equipment Report – None Event Review / Vote
Miatacross – No additional comments. There were no objections to certifying Miatacross as a championship event.
Enduro – WWSCC will have the Enduro vote in October. Some clubs haven’t discussed this event yet. One comment was that it is difficult to get workers with the three run- group format. Despite the warnings, we still had a few novices show up. As well, a few people went to Everett instead of Oxbow.
Mere Mortals – Mere Mortals was cancelled by CSCC due to lack of access to the Everett site.
Officers – We will need at least a new president. John Henderschedt is willing to return as secretary. We don’t know about Vice President or Treasurer. Nominations are next month. Elections are in November.
New Business –
Sports Car Spectacular – Enrique has an event plan, but is out of town and not available to present it this evening. All of the chiefs are lined-up. Susan will mail the event plan to the Council list as soon as it is available. Karen is designing the course so there should not be a problem with BEAC course approval. Susan believes that Enrique is planning to
set the entry fees at $20 and $25. There is some confusion regarding what BEAC is contributing – site or equipment. Since the SCS entry fees should probably be the same amount as the ACE entry fees, we’ll go with $25 and $30. Susan will review the event chair checklist.
Dogfight – Ron Bauer presented an event plan. The event still need rules stewards. Dieter has volunteered to be the BEAC focal. Ron will ask Alan to post this request.
SCCA at Packwood – There was a question regarding the plan for practice registration. Morning registration is 8-9 and afternoon is 12-1. All of the information is on the website. Dieter was over at the sight last weekend – he helped the city fathers clean up the site after an event the night before.
Business Cards – No new information. Helmet Stickers – No new information. Passengers – No new information.
Coneheads – Susan is not planning Coneheads. Kelly said she can help, but cannot take the lead on organizing the event. Karina says she is too busy to help this year. Kristi Brown may be interested in helping with the banquet planning. Please go back to the clubs to recruit a banquet crew. Typically it is one person in charge for WWSCC and one person in charge for SCCA. One person can spearhead the whole event if they are willing to take input from both sides. WWSCC also needs a trophy committee. Anyone interested in being involved should notify Susan. Mountaineers was a good location, but there were a few problems with the bar service.
Slush Series – Clubs should think about what they want to do for slush events. TS will do one in February. ACE will probably do one. UWFSAE may also do one.
Guest Presentation – Richard Johnson presented information that the BMW Club of North America, Puget Sound is interested in putting on a few autocross events next year. They would like to sponsor a couple of events along the lines of the Miatacross, where a few club classes are included with the standard WWSCC classes. There could be a fair number of BMW members that would turn out. General reaction was that it might be a good idea to get a few folks out to existing events in order to get an idea of how it is done. The BMW Club has its own insurance so it doesn’t need the WWSCC insurance, so one of the WWSCC members may be interested in running an event for the BMW club. Like Miatacross, there could be BMW Club classes within the event format. They could also approach a WWSCC club sponsoring an event about including BMW classes. The enthusiasm is definitely there for a competition event. Perhaps they could pick a Saturday before a regular event and piggy-back on the club’s event and experience. They could also start out with a school for BMW Club members. Experience is extremely important, so it would be best to get people out to existing events. It is not necessary for the BMW club to join WWSCC it is ready to do championship events.
