WWSCC Meeting Minutes – August 16, 2004 Rogue Brewery, Issaquah

Attendance – Jerry Lamb (SCCA), Ed Dahl (CSCC), Susan Collicot (Pres.), Enrique Garcia (Vice President), Keith Brown (TS), John Henderschedt (Sec.), Denny Trimble (UWFSAE), Michael Van Loon, Dieter Beldi (PSME), Ron Bauer (ACE), Karen Babb (BEAC)

Call to Order – 7:35 p.m. Approval of Minutes – July minutes approved without objection.

Financial Report – John Henderschedt handed out the financial report as provided earlier by Kelley Picasso.

Old Business

Tech Report – WWSCC is still in need of a webmaster. Alan Dahl volunteered to maintain the website temporarily and to re-design the page, but it’s unclear who is doing the updating. Enrique can help if no one else is available. Folks need to go back to their clubs and let them know that if no one steps up to be the WWSCC webmaster soon, then information may no longer be available on the web. This really needs to be pushed.

Equipment – Enrique is still looking for a printer case, but it looks as if someone (Brett Wilson) found a suitable plastic box in the mean time, so this item has been taken care of.

Event Review Understeer/Oversteer – The two events were approved as championship events without

objection.

Miatacross – There were a few comments that while the “M” seemed a bit tight, Enrique did a great job on course design. In the “M”, it was a tough choice between first and second gears. Luckily Enrique allowed enough space on the outside of the turns.

BEAC had several comments – Red flags were not consistently mentioned during the driver’s meetings; a lot of drivers seemed to get lost; some folks were going too fast in the pit area; and there were too many people walking through the pit area. There was a suggestion that perhaps the road needs to be used for grid to provide more pit area.

The guys in the heavily-modified blue Mustang started out not being very cooperative, but were eventually receptive to the help they got from some of the experienced drivers.

The Honey Buckets were locked and the key was where it was supposed to be.

Sports Car Spectacular – BEAC has confirmed that the site is available for the new date – Saturday, 2 October. UWFSAE will do tear-down. ACE will do registration. SCCA has volunteered to do grid. NWDE will handle tech. PSMC will do timing. TS is in charge of workers. BEAC is contributing equipment usage.

We will again use medals as trophies – we still have quite a few. As Vice President, Enrique is event chair for the Sports Cat Spectacular. He will be out of town until the end of September, so any and all help will be appreciated.

New Business

Enduro – The Enduro is scheduled for August 29th. Enrique, the event chair, provided the attached event plan. He is still looking for a chief of timing and still need rules stewards. He will look for stewards once the run schedule is established. Chris Schlosser volunteered to be a rules steward.

Mere Mortals – Ed Dahl provided an event plan. He is still looking for a chief of timing and a chief of workers – they will be recruited from the club. Dieter will be the BEAC focal. Set-up will be done on Saturday night, and they will check to make sure that the Honey Buckets have been serviced.

Scorekeeper Training Sessions – Brett Wilson has developed a Scorekeeper tutorial. He would also be willing to do a course. The best timing (no pun intended) for such a course would probably be during the off-season. Brett should also consider more extensive cross-training of one or more individuals.

Business Cards – Dieter passes around a comp for a card. We should start thinking about what we want to be on the card – website info, WWSCC logo, Jim’s Detail info, club names and contact information. The card should have some blank areas so that they can be personalized.

Helmet Stickers – Kim Hiske has been out of touch for a while.

Passengers – We are still working on language for the passenger policies.

Honey Buckets – Honey Bucket servicing seems to be ok per the Miatacross report.

Council Officers – The WWSCC elections are coming up in four months. Nominations should be submitted in October. Elections are held in November.

SCCA Event – There will be an SCCA event in Packwood in late September – a practice on Saturday and Event #8 on Sunday, September 25 and 26. There is enough space to set up the ’04 Nationals North Course which will be run backwards on Saturday and “as designed” on Sunday.

ACE – ACE welcomes its new member, Michael Van Loon. Next Meeting – Tuesday, September 21 Adjourn – 8:35 p.m.
