WWSCC Meeting Minutes
March 20, 2006
Rogue Brewery, Issaquah, WA
Attendance: Keith Brown - SCCA, Glenn Austin, Amy Olson – TS and BSCC, Dieter Beldi – PSMC and ACE, Enrique Garcia – BEAC, Karen Babb, Kim Littke, Kelley Picasso – Treasuer, Jerry Lamb, Karl Coleman – President, Ron Bauer – Vice President, John Henderschedt - Secretary
Approval of February Minutes – Keith moved to approve the February minutes. Glenn seconded the motion. The minutes were approved as amended without opposition.
Treasurer’s Report – Kelley Picasso provided the Treasurer’s Report (attached). We have $400 left over from the Coneheads Banquet Fund. This money should either be set aside for next year or go towards this year’s trophy overages. It was pointed out that the original intent was to keep the funds designated toward next year’s banquet. So, there should be approximately $400 set aside for next year. The Council reps felt that Del Hines award costs should come out of the general funds. There was no opposition to setting aside the $400 for next year’s Coneheads banquet.
Old Business –
Equipment Review –
New Business
ACE Slush Event – This event had fewer than 100 entries. There was some discussion regarding the call to give the earlier group six runs. The following group ended up running in the rain. The surface was not as “green” as it was for the Torque Steerers event.
SCCA is the only club with the “four wheels off the asphalt and you’re done (DSQ)” rule. Club reps voiced the belief that WWSCC should consider adopting a similar rule for its events, although the Everett site is somewhat self-policing. A the details of a rule like this would have to be specified at the driver’s meeting. As well, it could be specified in the event plan. This is a safety issue that is related to keeping our insurance. In that regard, we don’t really need to take this back to the clubs, and can adopt it as a policy that is covered in the event plans. So, the event plan checklist needs to be revised accordingly.
Karen handed out copies of this year’s insurance reminders (attached).
CSCC – There should be someone here from CSCC to discuss this as well, so there will likely be further discussion at a future meeting.
According to reports from attendees, the event proceeded at a slow pace, primarily as a result of CSCC’s timing and scoring procedures. Some attempts were made to streamline the Accucross process and improve the speed at which cars could be run. CSCC should be encouraged to use co-chiefs and to take advantage of the expertise in the region in order to have more successful championship events.
There was apparently some question as to the appropriateness of the audit procedures.
Entrants thought the course was very tight, but it had been even tighter before folks took a look at the course and make some changes to make it legal.
2006 Calendar – Rulebooks should be done for the first event.
There is some interest in re-classing the SRT 4 from Stock A (NOC) to Stock C. The SRT 4 should probably be specifically classed. There was a motion to establish classification of the SRT4 in Stock C. This passed without opposition.
2006 Series Sponsorship – Jim’s Detail is still interested in continuing on as sponsor. Kevin hasn’t responded yet to confirm. We need to send a friendly reminder to Kevin along with an invoice.
Event Calendar
Cones – Most of the BEAC cones need to be replaced. BEAC proposes that WWSCC again buy cones and BEAC will store them in the van. They need about one hundred cones. If BEAC buys them, then WWSCC would have to rent them. The WWSCC reps thought that perhaps it would be more equitable to share in the cost of the cones. Maybe WWSCC could pay two-thirds of the cost. Enrique will go back to BEAC with this proposal.
Next Meeting Location – Rogue Brewery, Issaquah if available
