Approval of May Minutes – Keith moved to approve the May
minutes. Ann seconded the motion. The minutes were approved as amended without
opposition.
Treasurer’s Report – Kelley Picasso provided the Treasurer’s
Report (attached). Kelley recently e-mailed new invoices to the clubs.
Old Business –
- FM Transmitter – There was
some question regarding the location of the new transmitter. It is
believed to be in the truck.
- BEAC PA System and Generator –
There has not been any further progress on these. There was discussion
regarding the possibility of WWSCC buying a 1000 kW generator in addition
to the one that BEAC is purchasing.
- New Cone Purchase – The cones
haven’t been purchased yet. Cones with an orange base cost $4.95 and ones
with a black base cost $4.25. These black-base clones have smaller bases
than the old cones with black bases. Whatever we choose, it is preferable
to have all the bases the same size.
- UWFSAE Dawgdash Event – BEAC,
SCCA, TS, BSCC, PSMC, and ACE all voted in favor of approving the event.
- BEAC Autopilot – The event
went OK. There was rain in the morning. It was noted that the tech line
was slow at this event. The drivers’ meeting presentation for the
afternoon group failed to include notice of Jim’s Detail’s sponsorship of
the series. As well, we should make sure that the Jim’s Detail sponsorship
logo is on the course maps. Pets were on site at this event, and Glen did
a great job addressing the issue.
- ACE Ladies’ Practice – There
were 17 women who participated in the event – some got over 40 runs.
Response the event was generally positive. They could have used help from
more guys, and at times higher level drivers/instructors were working the
course, unavailable to help participants improve their autocross skills.
There was discussion regarding the use of the event to attract new
participants to autocross versus for skills development of women already
participating in the sport. Potential new participants might be scared
off by the “competition”.
New Business –
- TS Understeer/Oversteer Event
Plan – Event planning is under control. Pre-registration seems kind of
low. TS have received all necessary approvals from BEAC, although they
have not yet received their “hold harmless” agreement from BEAC. Course
set-up may commence after 7 p.m. on Friday, but the cones will have to be
removed after they’ve been marked. The cones may stay in place (but
tipped over) on Saturday night. All four rules stewards are in place.
Ann Wilson requested that NWDE members be allowed to shadow some of the
workers at this event to get more familiar with their roles and
responsibilities.
- Coneheads Practice and Sports
Car Spectacular – The plan is to use an old BEAC approved course on
Saturday and then “kick it around” after the practice to set the course for
Sunday. Keith and Ron will e-mail event plans to the Council list ASAP.
Novices will not be allowed to ride with another novice at the events.
The entry fee for the practice is $25 with no pre-registration. BEAC is
donating the lot fees for the practice and the Sports Car Spectacular. TS
will donate the use of the PA system on Saturday and Sunday and SCCA will
donate the use of the display.
- Miatacross – Shawn handed out
a course map and event plan (attached). Several changes were recommended:
Delete “Course
open at 8:00 a.m.
Get rid of the
registration limit
Delete the word
“raw” from “unofficial raw times”
PSMC will double-check K&K’s
passenger policy in order to have the least restrictive policy that the PSMC
insurance allows. The after-event social will be at McMinaminn’s
- Participant Suspension – A
letter was sent to the individual who jumped the fence at the BEAC site after
the UWFSAE event notifying that person that they were suspended from
participation in autocross events at that site for sixty days, and that
the suspension would be lifted after sixty days if the individual made a
formal apology to BEAC. That person has made an apology and will be
eligible to participate in events at the BEAC site sixty days from the
date of the UWFSAE Dawg Dash event. This would allow that individual to participate
in the Sports Car Spectacular.
- Event Chair Checklist – The
checklist has been updated and should include mention of the series
sponsor and BEAC. However, the clubs are responsible for enforcing the
site rules whether or not they are on the checklist.
- NWDE Request – Ann Wilson
explained that NWDE has lost much of its expertise in running an autocross
event, so they need help with timing and scoring, worker assignments, and
rules stewards. Dieter will be a p.m. steward. Karl and Amy will be co-chiefs
of workers. Ron and Kevin will be co-chiefs of timing and scoring.
Next Meeting Location – Rogue Brewery, Issaquah if available
Adjourn – The meeting adjourned without objection at 9:15
p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
John Henderschedt
Secretary
