Approval of July Minutes – Jerry moved to approve the minutes as amended. Keith Brown seconded the motion. The minutes were approved as amended without opposition.
Treasurer’s Report – Kelly Picasso reported (via phone) that she had deposited $3500 into the WWSCC account for SCS.
Old Business –
FM Transmitter – Kelley thinks she can put together the transmitter but not before the end of the year.
JAC Timer – Kelley has not yet ordered the timer.
Timer Display - No discussion – tabled until next year due to lack of funds.
PA System – No news on the PA system.
PSMC Miatacross –
BEAC reviewed the event and provided some critique. The course, they thought, was a little “busy” and “tight”. SCCA had similar comments.
There were 30 novices in the morning and 3 in the afternoon, so competitors got only three runs in the morning.
No one was assigned to “helmet wrangler” duty in the afternoon even though there were enough workers.
Lime lines from the previous event were a real hassle. If we use lime lines again, it needs to be cleaned up the night following the event. The general consensus was that in the future, lime shouldn’t be used to mark courses..
There were big issues with cars getting lost on course in the morning, when there were a lot of novices running. Two loops created the situation where every turn was in the same direction.
SCCA, BEAC, PSMC approved the event, but there was no decision yet by the other clubs so there were not sufficient votes to approve the event.
Sports Car Spectacular –
There were some issues with the course. It was very challenging and required lots of patience. There were lots of DNFs. The chalk lines blended in with the parking stall lines, which made finding the course very difficult for a novice. The course without the lines would have been extremely difficult to navigate as well.
BEAC Comments – The rules stewards should have been chosen earlier. BEAC members didn’t like lined course. Clean-up was a bit lax.
SCCA, BEAC, PSMC approved the event, but there was no decision yet by the other clubs so there were not sufficient votes to approve the event.
Passengers / Insurance – We should note that approval of an event official is required. Clarify that inexperienced autocross competitors may only take an approved instructor as a passenger.
There was a discrepancy between WWSCC insurance and PSMC insurance passenger allowances for this year’s Miatacross. It was suggested that next year PSMC may use WWSCC insurance.
May Minutes – Jerry moved to approve the May minutes. Ed Dahl seconded the motion. The minutes were approved as written without opposition.
New Business –
BEAC Enduro –
The Enduro event plan (attached) was presented by Enrique Garcia.
Jerry Lamb suggested that first drivers of dual driver cars run at the start of each group and the second drivers at the end of the group.
There was discussion regarding whether to have a full warm-up lap. This is apparently a very controversial issue at BEAC.
If someone is desperately lost on course, the car will be red-flagged and an instructor will be provided to the lost driver.
There is still a need for event rules steward volunteers.
Dogfight – No discussion
CSCC – Next year is the club’s 50th Anniversary. They are looking at having an event (car show, banquet, etc.). They’d like to have it in late July or early August. Club members are asked to spread the word and get a sense of the level of interest.
Keith Brown moved to adjourn. Denny seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
Next Meeting – Tuesday, September 20, 2005
Respectfully submitted,
John Henderschedt
Secretary
