WWSCC Meeting Minutes
November 15, 2004
Rogue Brewery, Issaquah, WA
Attendees: Ron Bauer (ACE), Annie Bauer, Denny Trimble (UWFSAE), Karen Babb (BEAC), Ed Dahl (CSCC), Dieter Beldi (PSME), Susan Collicott, Kelley Picasso, Karl Coleman (BSCC), Amy Olson, Keith Brown (TS), Enrique Garcia, John Henderschedt
Minutes – A motion to approve the corrected minutes was made by Kelley Picasso and seconded by Karl. The motion was approved unanimously. The minutes should be corrected to state that Karl Coleman represented BSCC at the October meeting, and that Dieter Beldi represented ACE.
Treasurer’s Report – Kelley Picasso provided the attached
report. Kelley is
researching the NWSE invoice. The
financial report was accepted without objection.
Old Business:
Tech Report – Enrique reported that Jim Starkovich has the generator for repair. Alan Dahl purchased the book he requested.
BEAC timing light charge – BEAC has implemented a $100 flat fee for hitting either side of the timing lights. There is also a flat charge of $50 for damage to the cable. The fee is assessed to the club, which can then pass on the charge to the offending individual. The SCCA lowered its charge to $100 as well, but this also applies to cable.
Championship Event Approval – All of the remaining events were approved without objection.
Coneheads – The organizers have not yet received a bid from the Mountaineers. The point was brought up that Sports Car Spectacular fees are generally for Coneheads costs. There was a discussion of a proposal to having any overage covered by WWSCC. Jerry reported that SCCA discussed this at their meeting. SCCA is not eager to spend additional money on the banquet, and therefore the event fee needs to be set accordingly. Kelley reported that the Phoenix club must subsidize the event – they charge $15/person at a Hilton or other such place. How does the council feel about that? It was pointed out that SCCA does not give trophies to non-members. So, everybody who is going to get an SCCA trophy is a member of WWSCC. Karen suggested that the extra money could be used to subsidize the insurance payment. Ron asked how did Sports Car Spectacular do? About $1300. WWSCC has not yet settled on a venue for Coneheads. Kelley offered to check with Mountaineers.
FX McCrory’s will cost $35/person including gratuities and tax. Lots of parking is available, but it may be pay parking. The actual cost for FX McCrory’s consists of $33 for food and cake cutting by FX and $2 for outside-sourced sheet cake.
We have a tentative reservation for February 5. Keith suggested that if we can fix the date, we should do so sooner rather than later. Kelley will check with Mountaineers – at least get the date on the books. There was discussion of how WWSCC would collect the ticket payments. Last year we accepted checks and Paypal. If we offer Paypal again this year, we will need to include the Paypal fee in calculating the per person cost.
Dieter asked what is the status of the Bremerton club? It is an associate member. There wouldn’t be a lot of trophies to hand out. Karl can bring it up to them. Karl reported that the BSCC has a problem with having meetings outside of Bremerton.
Trophy Committee – The trophy committee has two volunteers – Alan Dahl and Dieter Beldi. Susan has been researching (Googling) racing awards. Last year WWSCC spent about $2300 on trophies, but about $600 of that was express shipping. SCCA is rounding up to calculate average participants for trophy placements.
Susan will get things caught up on the Del Hines award.
Other special trophies – We need special trophy nominations for Del Hines, Worker of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and the hard-luck award. Susan will post this to the list. Please let Dieter and Alan know if you have any trophy recommendations.
Officers –
There were no e-mailed nominations for President or V.P.
Karl Coleman nominated as President
Ron Bauer nominated as V.P.
Kelley Picasso as Treasurer
John Henderschedt as Secretary
Elected without objection.
Slush series – TS is 2/13, and UWFSAE is 2/27.
Karl explained that the BMP date requests are due tonight. The date selection committee is on Sunday (11/21, 2:00 p.m.). Each club may have a rep at the meeting site in case date conflicts need to be worked out.
2005 Season - National dates aren’t set yet.
SCCA has submitted all of its dates to BMP – 5 at Bremerton, 3 at Packwood and 1 at Yakima. BMP NT reservations are on 24 and 25 July in case Packwood doesn’t work out. Evolution won’t be at BMP in ‘05. Cheney is probably the best bet, as it won’t be tied to NT next year.
Please submit Everett dates to Enrique and Glen or other BEAC officer (Karen, Ron Hill, Dick Willy) as soon as you have them so that they can get the approval process
Rules committee meeting – Factoria mall – 6:30 to 8:30 on Wednesday, December 1. Enrique will send out the announcement and the requirements for submitting a rules change.
Susan will speak with Karen about the passenger rule and write something up. Keith recommended looking at an old rulebook for the earlier language regarding passengers.

Next Meeting – Monday, December 13.
