WWSCC Meeting Minutes 06/16/2003 Issaquah Rogue
Brewery
Call to Order: 7:41
Attendance: Chris NWDE, Glen BEAC, Denise PSMC, Brian UWFSAE, Steve CSCC,
Keith TS, President Susan, Secretary Kelley, Possible VP Enrique, Jerry
SCCA, Treasurer Karina, Insurance Focal Karen, Ron ACE. No PTC rep.
Guests: Tom LeCoque, Scott Miller, and Dieter Beldi
Minutes: April: Discussion about Steve's proposal regarding indexing, need
to amend the proposal as written to state that the Council encourages Event
Chairs and Rules Stewards to make index corrections when errors are made
in good faith. Motion to approve with changes by Ron, Susan seconded, passed.
May Minutes: Motion to approve with no changes by Steve, Brian seconded,
passed.
Treasurer's Report: Items paid in May were the phone bill, insurance fees,
and outgoing payment for keychains. May deposits were insurance deposits
for upcoming events. We still haven't received an invoice for the 2002 jacket
trophies. PayPal works well for events because we deduct the amount we've
received via PayPal from the WWSCC invoice for the sanction fees and rulebook
sales, etc. PSMC planning on using the WWSCC PayPal for Miatacross.
OLD Business: VP Nomination - Susan: We finally have a VP nominee in Enrique
Garcia. He is officially elected tonight! Welcome Enrique!
Laptop Purchase - Kelley: The new laptop is working great with Scorekeeper.
We had a rather flawless day with it at Clothing Optional and are now hosting
the WWSCC database by ourselves. Kelley purchased a rolling case that also
holds the printer and all the cables and mouse, etc. It has a handy removable
padded case for toting around just the laptop such as to meetings and such.
Great purchase!
Webpage - Karina: Our logo designer, Jordan Cayabyab, was in a really bad
car accident and is somewhat out of commission for awhile. The files of
the logo he sent to Karina were corrupted so Karina wants to give the soft
copy of the logo to another graphic designer so we can get a working electronic.
Because of the way Brent wants to program the website we will be changing
ISP's because Eskimo can't handle the file types he has in mind. The Specialty
Checklists are on the website and since Karina hasn't heard any differently
from anyone, she is assuming that the clubs think they are complete as they
are. It was agreed that if people have questions about the checklists that
they should address them to the Officers who will forward the question to
the club in charge of that checklist.
SCCA Generator Purchase - Jerry/Karen: Jerry said SCCA authorized that
WWSCC could purchase their old generator with the caveat that it needs some
repairs. Karen said she would take the generator in to be assessed and
serviced. Susan proposed that we budget $150 to Karen to get the SCCA generator
cleaned, diagnosed and fixed. We will purchase from SCCA for $300 if it
can be fixed under $150. Seconded, passed.
NEW Business: WWSCC Event #2, BEAC Autopilot - Susan: Do we accept for
Championship status? Yes, passes.
WWSCC Event #3, NWDE Clothing Optional - Chris: Unofficial discussion of
event: 172 entrants total all day, everyone received four runs. We had
two or three cars that squirreled around a little as they left the site;
one was stopped and talked to. One car went a bit off course (curbed) in
the 3rd run group of the morning. Overall, the day went pretty smoothly.
Lots of double entries in the PM. We were missing the worker checklist
; discussion about getting it posted to the worker specialty checklist.
Need to keep on top of waivers at each station at registration. Keep track
of posting sheets between the AM & PM. 92 entrants in the AM, which
was very unusual for stock half of the day. Great event, good job!
Driver's Permit Question - Susan: Is a learner's permit considered "licensed"
in accordance with our standards? We all seem to agree that it is, as long
as the driver has a fully licensed passenger on all their runs (legally
someone with at least 5 years' driving experience) who is an "approved"
WWSCC instructor. Karen will look into what K&K considers for insurance
purposes. Discussion about proving parent/guardianship of an adult signing
the Minor Waiver. We need to check for ID of both the signer and the minor,
and since the signer is saying they are the parent/guardian of the minor,
if they later prove not to be the parent/guardian, they have falsified a
legal document and it is not our fault.
Events for 2003: TS OS/US event plan presented. TS is going to be self-sufficient
for this event, no BEAC van. Looking for any donations of old helmets.
Kelley thought it was Snell 85 (says in rulebook). Discussion about error
in rulebook because in one place it says Snell 90 required for helmets, and
in another place it says Snell 85 for helmets. Correction of the Snell 85
will be mailed out through the website. UWFSAE practice on August 10th.
Open practice, no membership requirements. They wanted to have a BBQ, however
concerns about proper food-handling were raised and non-perishable foods
were encouraged. Also is the same day as Blaine Street Solo. Enduro might
be on August 24th, BEAC is discussing.
SaniCans for the Season - Kelley: Glen will check with Boeing Properties
to make sure it is okay for SaniCans to spend the season at Everett West
providing that they are locked between events. Kelley will coordinate with
Northwest Cascade after Glen gets back to her.
500 Keychains - Karina: We still have about 500 keychains left from the
order we placed at season trophy time. It was agreed that we should give them
out at Sports Car Spectacular with the dash-plaques.
Next meeting: Issaquah Brewery, Monday July 21st.
Adjourned: 9:02pm
