March 25th, 2002 Minutes from WWSCC March meeting Overlake GodfatherÕs Pizza
In attendance: representatives from PSMC, BEAC, SCCA, NWDE, ACE, TS, UWFSAE, and CSCC; secretary, vice pres., and president, and guests. No treasurer report, although we do have some bills to be paid: Victory Awards for the 2001 series trophies (underbudget!!) and Denise Williamson for artwork for those trophies. VP Susan will get these taken care of. Short report: WASAAC is still a club but will no longer be part of the Council.
Old Business:
Slush #3: Report from Bill Banning and Steve Perrett from CSCC: Viewed event as a success: gave 619 runs total for the day. Had a 20-30 minute delay from losing registration data, but was only a small problem. The cars on course could have been closer together, especially PM vs. AM run groups. Refunded more than enough money to people who missed their run group entirely or had a shortened number of runs. They thanked WWSCC for allowing them to run event on new software (AccuCros). Overall, the event ran rather well. Karen Babb said the insurance liability waivers were filled out extremely well!! Very complete and legible.
New Cones: Report from Karl Coleman: Karl has an estimate from National Barricade, a local company, to provide new cones at $3.75 each. This is just about the lowest price out there, and thatÕs including local delivery. He will be arranging purchase & delivery of these new cones this month.
K&K Insurance: Report from Karen Babb: K&K Insurance, who insures WWSCC clubs for event liability, has changed carriers. The per capita member charge for premiums might be going up, but the premium cost per event will probably be going up. More information to follow in the coming months.
New Business:
UW Formula SAE event: Report from Mark: the class/club is really excited and getting very ready for the event. Mark presented a course map to Karen & the council Ð Karen has a few changes to suggest. Since this is a WWSCC event, even though not a championship one, it needs Rules Stewards. Susan will check with event chair Brian Carver.
Rules for Non-Championship Events: Karl mentioned that it would be a good idea to have a paragraph in our Autoslalom Standards stating the requirements/differences for Championship vs. Non-championship events, what constitutes a council sanctioned event vs. a club practice, etc. Also should there be wording about how to make a non-championship event, such as caps, stewards, etc.? Club reps should discuss this within the clubs and return at the next meeting with ideas for how to phrase these concerns.
Autocross Calendar: BEAC is letting SCCA use their previous date for Autopilot in the Everett West lot. Autopilot will now be on May 19th and SCCA will have an event in June. These all need to be confirmed with BEAC properties first, however, and are not completed firmed up dates as of yet. The All Council Sports Car Spectacular is tentatively scheduled for September 22nd.
New Standards Books: Printing will be done at Costco again. An informal vote for cover color was held, and a bright green cover will grace our 2002 standards books. The final copy is going through last minute proofreading and other small changes before going to the printer.
Specialty Checklists: Each club needs to have the checklists for their specialty in order and finalized. These need to be presented so they can be posted to the website.
New Timing/Scoring Software: Report by Scott Chytil: The timing & scoring software that Scott has been working on is ready for beta testing. This is the equivalent of electronic timing cards and will not have live timing box to scorecard scoring capabilities as yet. This will have online registration, as well as allow on-site registration.
US National Championship Auto Triathlon: Report by Jim Wilmot: EventTeam USA is presenting an event at QualComm Stadium in San Diego and the organizer, Jim Kidrick, approached Jim W. about perhaps having one of the series (CATS) events in the northwest area. The triathlon consists of a drag race course, an autocross course, and a car show. The score is averaged by these three competitions and trophies awarded accordingly. The inaugural event is in San Diego on May 24th, 2002. It was suggested to Jim W. that he might consider having EventTeam USA approach Pacific Raceways while they are undergoing their shift in business objectives.
Meeting adjourned: 8:47pm.
