no report
New Business:
Miatacross on 6/30: Event went well. Total entrants: 177. Everyone seemed to really like Manila
House, who was onsite for food.
Kevin Dietz had mentioned to Karl that the Sponsor information was not
very visible at this event. Karl
suggested that for the future we have Sponsor information clearly defined in
our rulebook so that every club can comply so we can show respect to the series
sponsor. Denise was pretty sure
that the Sponsor information was on all the printed materials. She will check again, but isnŐt exactly
sure how much more visible it could have been. Brianne will meet/talk with Kevin regarding what he would
expect for the sponsorship visibility during events. Karl moved we accept Miatacross as a championship event,
seconded, passed.
TS
US/OS on 7/13 & 14: 128
entrants Sat, 146 entrants on Sun.
Turned away 2 people on Saturday, because of pre-registration
requirements. Turned away 1 person
Sat, 1 person Sun for not having driverŐs licenses with them. A timing cable was shredded at the
finish. Brianne suggested that we
have a detachable 40 feet or so closest to the timing lights. TS to pay BEAC for the mangled cords
then get money from the driver who shredded it. After event social was huge. Some run groups had way more drivers than other run groups,
which makes for a lack of workers.
There was conversation regarding moving classes back or to the Stock
half of the day. Tim is going to
talk to Scott C. to analyze the data regarding numbers of drivers per halves of
day to perhaps come up with a better solution for driver distribution. Official review of Understeer/Oversteer
will be next month after TS meets as a club.
Sports
Car Spectacular on 8/4:
Stewards: Karl for
AM:non-stock half and Scott M. for PM:stock half of day. SaniCans are already
in place and will remain through BEACŐs Enduro. Specialty chiefs:
PSMC: Denise (Workers) chief, TS: chief of Tech Keith, Susan chief of
Timing/Scoring for ACE, chief of Tear-Down Steve CSCC, Brian chief of
Registration for UWFSAE, Tim chief of Grid for NWDE, Karen/Glen chief of
Course/Set-up for BEAC. Going to
trophy through all eligible placements.
Also going to have a prize in each half of day for best Ňpoker handÓ
made from their time. Will need
Post-It notes and itŐs up to the driver to mention their best time. In our quest to encourage
pre-registration, there will be three levels of entry fees: $15.00 for pre-reg,
pre-pay; $20.00 for pre-reg, pay onsite; $25.00 for reg & pay onsite. UW has a PayPal account that WWSCC will
use for this event. Snail mail
checks will be sent to BrianŐs address.
For phone-in registration, Brian will supply his home phone number. ACE said they have planned for Scott C
to do onsite scoring and WWSCC will rent Karl CŐs generator in exchange for
free entry to the event.
Equipment: Susan to make new red flags of ripstop
nylon. Orange BEAC flags will be
backup flags from now on. TS did
get old cones from BEAC when WW bought new ones.
Checklists:
BEAC is almost done with
theirs. TS thinks T&S is
almost done, fill a few holes.
New
Business:
Segue
from PayPal discussion: TreasurerŐs absence is an issue. Scott M. mentioned that we can vote out
the treasurer. Glen advised that
we check with our individual clubs to see if there is anyone interested in
taking over the position. Karina
said she would run for the position also.
Clubs are to ask for their reps to be authorized to vote on the clubŐs
behalf in voting for the candidates. Reps to ask their lists for candidates and
send names to the council. Brianne
to ask Jake what his plans are: step down or step up to the task.
Enduro: August 25th at Boeing
Everett West. Event chair is Mike
Leuty. Warm up lap and 3 timed
runs. Running start. Registration and tech: 3 different
times 7-8, 10-11, 1-2 with 2 run groups per session. Pre-reg is offered with a cap of 150, first come first
served. Entry fee is $20.00. Using
BEAC timing equip. Need to check
if SCCA will provide back-up timing to BEAC. Training for novices at side meeting at drivers
meeting. At least one person per
course station will be an experienced competitor. On the fly worker changeovers, since itŐs a
one-car-on-course day. Trophies
will be per the rulebook.
Rules clause that says competitors cannot pre-run the course in a
wheeled vehicle, but the INTENT of that rule is to prevent people from running
the AM non-points then running the PM in points, not necessarily when offered
to all competitors within the same run group. Council thinks Enduro is an exception. They will probably be Pre-reg
only. BEAC to discuss at their
next meeting.
SCCA
Birthday/Anniversary Ad: WWSCC
to put together a whole page ad for NWSCN paper. Glen said he will be willing to put together the layout for
it. Should have club logos and
club websites. Linda Miklovic is
no longer doing the newsletter, nor Brian Horn. Karl to ping the SCCA list to find out who is doing it
currently .
Year
End Awards: start thinking
about thoseÉ.need ideas.
President
in absentia soon: August
meeting will probably her last for the year and will turn over to the VP.
Roll
bars and shoulder harnesses:
When using shoulder harnesses and rollbar, there are minimum height
requirements. Tech will start
checking those.
Rules
Steward ID: Individual clubs
to identify their RSŐs then the council to vote on how to make them visible
consistently at each event.
CSCC
incident on July 6th: Steve gave report written by Bill Banning. Weather said it was going to be dry
& sunny, but it was raining. A
driver clipped the finish lights and put the car into a roll-up doorway in a
building. (Building was well
outside of the course limits dictated by the K&K insurance policy
guidelines) His first run was in the dry and the injurious run was after it had
begun raining. Car slid along the building until it hit the drivers side
A-pillar on a reinforced concrete foundation about 15 inches tall. CSCC offered all competitors the
opportunity to withdraw with refunds.
Incident is believed to be driver error because track conditions had
changed between his runs and he had not taken that into consideration. The car is totaled, the driver is
okay. Property damage to the
concrete foundation has been repaired at CSCCŐs expense. There was discussion about what the
limits of liability for the club are if the driver is injured but refuses
medical attention.
Meeting adjourned at 9:50pm
