The combined NWR-SCCA / WWSCC / NWR-Solo banquet at Emerald Downs in Auburn went off pretty well for a first try at the concept. The buffet dinner included tasty entrees (beef and chicken), rice pilaf, caesar salad, and an extensive veggie tray. Kudos to organizers Scott Miller and Jill Snell for putting the event together. Just under 100 autocrossers, racers, and administrators showed up to the first of what is hoped to be many of these combined motorsports year-end gatherings.
NWR Regional Exec John Taylor presented the major commemorative Northwest Region awards, including the following:
Stan Burnett Inspirational - Chuck Huffington
Mary Pang Unsung Hero - Tasha Mikko
Frank & Joan Manley Enthusiast - Kevin Dietz
Joe Henderson National Achievement - Ron Babb
After that the typical Solo and WWSCC year-end awards were presented in one part of the expansive Emerald Downs facility, and the NWR Race group gathered separately for their season award presentation.
Don't forget; WWSCC has two events scheduled for the Emerald Downs north parking lot, the first weekend in April. More info here as it becomes available.
Yes, the new server is alive! This is the server owned by WWSCC, and is not shared with anybody — so no more of the server getting "blacklisted" because some spammer decided to do a hit-and-run using a shared service.
The main web pages are now alive, the peripheral web pages (calendar, event results, event info) are coming back up. The NWAutoX mailing list appears to be running well at http://lists.wwscc.org/, and Scorekeeper is running. We're on the latest version of Joomla which means that keeping the server up-to-date is relatively simple for the admin(s).
Happy New Year!
Yes, it's a real Goodyear Blimp (N10A, one of 2 "non-rigid airships"). For much of the day at BEAC's Autopilot it could be seen in the background, waiting to go cover some game with little white balls over at Chambers Bay. Event Chair Glen Hernandez coordinated with the blimp's support crew to help them find an access route that didn't go through the autocross course, and many cars had unique photo ops with the blimp as the day progressed.
Entrants saw a tough but fast (in places) and fun course, perfect weather, five runs, and a day that ended around 4pm. By then the blimp had headed off to its next destination.
Results are here: http://www.wwscc.org/event_results/2015/wwscc-05.html
Next WWSCC event is BEAC's Enduro Lite in August. Stay tuned for more info.
BEAC's Autopilot, event #5 in the 2015 WWSCC series, will be held at Sanderson Field in Shelton on Saturday June 20th.
